It’s hard to believe, but March 3rd marked the 20th anniversary of the Battle of Takur Ghar, in which Windsor Locks’ native Master Sergeant John Chapman showed such a heroism that he was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously.
His hometown honored John with a plaque in front of the Windsor Locks Memorial Hall which was built to commemorate those who fought in the civil war, but is now seen as a tribute to all who fought for their country and especially those who paid the ultimate sacrifice like John did.
The photo was sent to us by Brian Harnedy and we are honored to publish it
